At Silver Birch we value parents and carers as the child‘s first educator and we encourage you to play a full and active role in your child‘s experience, we will make decisions together to ensure your child is given the best possible start in life.

We value the diversity of family structures and lifestyles. We offer a supported transition between home and nursery and will work in partnership with other funded providers who provide care for individual children to forge strong partnerships from the onset. We value families’ unique knowledge of children by asking for a detailed ‘Marvellous me’ to completed with children to ensure that we build on experiences at home for continuity as children begin their learning with us.

Families are always welcome to come and spend time at Silver Birch Outdoor Nursery. We encourage parents and carers to be active members of the Silver Birch community and invite you to support us to develop and maintain the site and share your skills in other ways to develop the children’s leaning. This could be sharing a book, a favourite story, campfire cooking or whatever outdoor activity that you enjoy and would feel comfortable sharing. All skills are welcome, from DIY, STEM, woodwork, learning for sustainability or fundraising please get in touch we’d be delighted to receive your help!

There will be opportunities for ongoing discussions and reflections of your children’s development throughout their Silver Birch journey and our friendly staff will be available for this and will regularly update the children’s digital journal Seesaw which gives families a real-time look at the child’s nursery day.

Communication

We welcome parents and carers at Silver Birch and staff are available at the beginning and end of sessions to talk. Your contributions to your child’s online learning journal, by sharing events and news from home are essential for the holistic development of your child and as these will be online it will give your child opportunities to share their ideas and learning throughout the course of the nursery year.

Our families are invited to join in any events celebrated at Silver Birch throughout the year.
