Food

Food – we encourage a family style service with children and staff encouraged to sit together to learning the social element of eating their meals. Parents are welcome to provide packed lunches for their child but we ask that you provide healthy food, do not include food with nuts, and especially do not send in fizzy or sugary drinks or sweets. We take into account the cultural and dietary needs of individual children, including food allergies (please let us know your child’s requirements)

Key worker

Each child and family receives support from a ‘key worker’ – an experienced member of staff responsible for your child’s individual needs – who will build a special relationship with you and your child. Although your child will be allocated a keyworker it is important to remember that all Silver Birch staff will be involved in providing feedback on your child’s achievements and will develop strong and positive relationships with your child.

Seesaw learning journals

Seesaw learning journals are a tool to bring your home and Silver Birch Outdoor Nursery closer together. It allows opportunities to share children’s experiences in a regular, often spontaneous way. Your child’s keyworker will lead on monitoring and updating your child’s Seesaw, by observing and documenting your child’s play and activity. It is these observations that allow staff to reflect on how best to support children to pursue and explore what interests them. Families are encouraged to look interact with the Seesaw learning journal with their child at home and to add stories or photos with their child about experiences outside of Silver Birch
